Maradona urges Manchester City star to form "spectacular" Ronaldo partnership

Diego Maradona has urged Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero to leave the Etihad Stadium and join Real Madrid in the summer.

The Argentine forward has been linked with a move back to Spain to join his former club Atletico Madrid's rivals in the past, and Maradona, Aguero's former father-in-law, says the 24-year-old would benefit from a move to the Bernabeu and could be the perfect foil to Cristiano Ronaldo.

"'El Kun' [Aguero] would be the solution for Madrid's future, a perfect complement for Ronaldo," Maradona told Marca.

"Sergio is pure movement, while [Karim] Benzema and [Gonzalo] Higuain are two impressive tanks who can pull around the defence for you, but who clash with CR7 [Ronaldo].

"One of these days Cristiano is going to carry off one of those two. Sometimes I think they are going to need to put in traffic lights to organise the traffic between them.

"Kun would create spaces for Ronaldo. It would be spectacular. I continue to see him at Madrid, although the truth is at the moment he is very happy at City, very happy with the club. Having said that, living in Manchester is like living in a freezer."

Aguero has been a hit since joining Manchester City in 2011 from Atletico Madrid £38 million, and scored the  goal which secured the Citizens first league title in 44 years last season.

Although he has been unable to replicate his best form from last season, largely because of injury, Aguero will be viewed as key in Manchester City's hopes of reeling in Premier League leaders and cross-city rivals Manchester United.
