Whilst this season, as it stands, has been a far from vintage one for Chelsea Football Club, the supporters have been handed a boost ahead of next season with the announcement that all ticket prices for all matches at Stamford Bridge will remain unchanged for the 2013/14 campaign.

This freeze, which covers season tickets, individual match tickets and hospitality lounges, means the 2013/14 season will be the sixth time in eight campaigns there has been a price freeze for Premier League and European competition knockout-phase tickets at Stamford Bridge.

On the decision to maintain ticket prices for next season, chief executive Ron Gourlay said: "Economic conditions remain tough for many people and the club would like to thank our supporters for the consistently very good attendances we have had throughout this season.

"Financial Fair Play regulations are now having an impact on clubs across Europe, but it was our hope a year ago when we announced prices would not be raised that this decision could be extended. We are pleased this has proved possible for 2013/14."

The news will be welcomed by the club’s supporters who have become increasingly frustrated with the Chelsea board in the last few months, following the appointment of ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez and their unwillingness to extend Frank Lampard’s 12-year career at Stamford Bridge.

So, whatever the motives behind the freeze on ticket prices for next season, the one thing that is for certain is that those at the heart of the club itself, the fans, are being put first.
