Valencia defender flattered by Liverpool interest
Liverpool transfer news: Valencia full-back Aly Cissokho pleased with link to Anfield
Liverpool target Aly Cissokho has expressed his delight at being linked to the Merseyside club, but admitted he was a fan of rivals Manchester United as a kid.
The Valencia left-back told French newspaper Le Parisien he is flattered by reported interest from Liverpool and said he would love to play in the Premier League in the future.
"I've never hidden the fact that the English league is the one that attracts me the most," he said. "It's pleasing to see my name linked to Liverpool.
"They're a great club, and not just anyone can wear that shirt. But it's still just an article in a newspaper."
And ahead of his side's Champions League round of 16, second leg with Paris St Germain tonight, he revealed David Beckham was his childhood idol.
Cissokho said: "When I was little, I was a Manchester United fan, and so also of David Beckham. It's strange to think I'll be playing against him, but it's not the first time I'll have come up against great players."
The 25-year-old former Porto defender has travelled to Paris for the Champions League clash, where Valencia need to overturn a 2-1 defeat suffered at the Mestalla last month in order to progress to the last eight.
The Frenchman has been a regular at Valencia this season following his €6million move from Lyon last summer, making 25 appearances and scoring two goals.
In 2010, he made his international debut, but he has yet to receive another cap.
