Vincent Kompany will miss out on Manchester City's FA Cup tie with Barnsley this Saturday, adding to the injury list of Jack Rodwell and Sergio Aguero.

According to reports, the Belgian has found himself on the sidelines with a persistent calf problem, and it's thought that Roberto Mancini wouldn't like to risk adding to the injury against a struggling Barnsley side.

The captain has been missing from action since the FA Cup fourth round tie against Stoke on January 26, a game which City went on to win 1-0 thanks to a goal from Argentinian stand-in skipper Pablo Zabaleta.

It would seem that the constant injury of the calf has got City's assistant manager, David Platt, concerned as he believes it's not a fresh injury.

Kompany was a key player in City's title victory last season, where his contribution led to a total of 17 clean sheets over the course of the Premier League campaign.

After a shaky start however, City seem content with their back four, which has seen City keep clean sheets in their last two Premier League outings.
