Chelsea predicted line-up v Steaua Bucharest

Published 4 Comments

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez is tipped to pick a strong side for the clash against Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League last 16.

The Blues survived a scare in the first knockout round after Eden Hazard’s late winner against Sparta Prague, but are now just three rounds away from a final in Amsterdam.

Petr Cech is a reliable option between the sticks for Chelsea, although John Terry’s knee injury means he is unlikely to be risked at the back ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester United.

That leaves David Luiz and Gary Cahill as a probable pairing at centre back, with Cesar Azpilicueta on the right and Ashley Cole on the left.

Ramires and Frank Lampard could anchor the Chelsea midfield, with Victor Moses, Oscar and Eden Hazard in the three advanced positions. Juan Mata could be rested for the Romanian clash.

Up-front, Benitez has a decision to make over who starts, and Spanish striker Fernando Torres will hope to get the nod ahead of Demba Ba.

Chelsea predicted line-up v Steaua Bucharest:

Petr Cech; Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole; Ramires, Frank Lampard; Victor Moses, Oscar, Eden Hazard; Fernando Torres.
