Liverpool are set to reward Luis Suarez for his sensational season and hand him a massive £40,000-a-week pay rise.

According to the Daily Mail, the Anfield superstar’s incredible goalscoring form has triggered clauses in his contract, which will push up his salary from the current £80,000 per week to over £120,000.

Suarez only signed a new deal with Liverpool last summer that extended his deal to 2017 and instgated the ream of performance related incentives.

The report claims this is part of a wider move by the Reds owners to combat the huge contracts that were handed out to players recently and instigate a system that rewards good form.

It appears to have worked in Suarez’s case as the Uruguay international became the first player to reach 20 goals in the Premier League this season.

The 26-year-old pipped his counterpart at Manchester United, Robin van Persie, to the gong with a hat-trick in another outstanding performance during the 4-0 thrashing of Wigan Athletic last weekend.

The Reds will be hoping this form continues in their next Premier League fixture against in-form Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will have to be wary as Spurs have an in-form star of their own in Gareth Bale.

The Welshman scored a terrific free-kick and created the other in a 2-1 win for the home side in the corresponding fixture at White Hart Lane earlier in the season.
