Chelsea are considering a move for AC Milan starlet Mbaye Niang though face a struggle to wrestle him away from the Serie A giants.

According to Calciomercato, Blues scouts have been watching Niang for some time and have made tentative enquiries with his representatives with regards to his availability.

However, Roman Abramovich may be heading for disappointment, as the report claims the Rossoneri have been hugely impressed with his recent development.

It also says that Niang is in line for a one-year contract extension in the summer as reward for his impressive performances recently.

This would make Chelsea’s chances of landing the France Under-21 international even slimmer, but financial worries at the Serie A club mean a sizeable bid would be difficult to turn down.

The 18-year-old could have been lining up against Chelsea for one of their Premier League rivals this season had events panned out differently last summer.

Both Arsenal and Everton had Niang on trial in the summer break and the Gunners reportedly had a bid rejected for him from former club Caen.
