Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic admits he’s flattered to be linked with Manchester United.

The Bosnian international stopper is a long-term target of the Red Devils, according to Metro, with the paper claiming Sir Alex Ferguson was monitoring the player last week ahead of a possible summer move.

And, whilst Begovic insists his only concern at the current time is the Potters’ form in the Premier League, he admits it’s ‘nice to hear’ about other clubs wanting to sign him.

“I must confess it is nice to hear these things,” said Begovic, according to Metro, when asked about the interest of Manchester United.

“It is always nice to hear what others are saying, it means that you are doing a good job. But I have no time to think about this. My only concern is Stoke City as I want to be as good as I can be for my club and for my national team.”

The paper goes on to report that Manchester United are considering an £8million bid for the player, with Ferguson still harbouring doubts over his current goalkeeping options.

David de Gea is the current first-choice for the leaders at Old Trafford, whilst Danish international Anders Lindegaard was challenging for the No.1 spot before injury stopped his progress earlier in the campaign.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has a ready-made replacement at his disposal if Begovic is allowed to leave the Britannia Stadium, with Jack Butland drafted in during the January window.
