FA Cup quarter-final clashes at the weekend meant the Premier League had a sparse scheduled that was dominated by relegation scraps – but there were fine performances nonetheless.

The biggest treats were Manchester United’s draw with Chelsea and Liverpool’s dramatic win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side took an early two-goal lead at Old Trafford through Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney.

Rafael Benitez send out his charges with renewed vigour in the second period and a fine strike from Eden Hazard halved the deficit before Ramires guided home from the edge of the area to level.

Anfield was witness to an entertaining affair too, with a cute Luis Suarez finish giving Liverpool a first half lead.

Spurs hit back through a Jan Vertonghen double but a pair of mistakes from Kyle Walker and Hugo Lloris allowed Stewart Downing to equalise before Benoit Assou-Ekotto bundled over Suarez for the match-winning penalty, despatched by Steven Gerrard.

QPR got another precious win at home to Sunderland, inching themselves closer safety but still having a long way to go.

Aston Villa’s victory over Reading felt hugely significant for both sides and the Royals now appear doomed.

Team of the Week from this week will be compiled from both Premier League and FA Cup clashes to give a bit of variety and we will also opt for a 4-3-3 formation.

Here it is:

GK – Joel Robles, Wigan Athletic

Was terrific in keeping a clean sheet During Wigan’s impressive win away at Everton.

RB – Jose Bosingwa, QPR

He has been heavily criticised this season for his performances but he was extremely effective in the crucial win for Harry Redknapp’s side.

LB – Maynor Figuroa, Wigan Athletic

Wigan play with a back three but Figuroa still finds opportunity to go marauding forward like a full-back and scoring a good goal.

CB – Jan Vertonghen, Tottenham Hotspur

The Belgian has grown in stature throughout the season and was unlucky to be on the losing side at Anfield in the Premier League, especially after scoring twice.

CB – Scott Dann, Blackburn Rovers

Dann put in a solid display for a combative encounter, picking up a cut above his eye as Rovers forced a replay against their Championship counterparts Millwall.

MF – Mousa Dembele, Tottenham Hotspur

Another man that was undeservedly on the losing side; Dembele was a vision of composure and guile in the centre of midfield.

MF – Ramires, Chelsea

As has often been the case for Chelsea this season, they play well when he does. In this instance his energy provided the base for a second half comeback and he scored a classy equaliser.

MF – Yohan Cabaye, Newcastle United

Alan Pardew’s team just aren’t the same when Cabaye isn’t playing and he was crucial once more in the win over Stoke City.

FW – Carlos Tevez, Manchester City

If only Tevez had been able to find his best form more consistently this season, Robert Mancini’s side may have put up a better defence of their title. The Argentinean bagged a hat-trick as the Citizens thrashed Barnsley to book a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

FW – Luis Suarez, Liverpool

Lighting up the Premier League at the moment, Suarez was a nightmare once again. Scoring a cute opener and winning the penalty that sealed Liverpool’s win.

FW – Wayne Rooney, Manchester United

The England man put a difficult week behind him with a performance that suggested he has been affected adversely by recent events.
