Manchester United and Chelsea will play their FA Cup quarter-final replay on Monday April 1 with a 12.30pm kick-off.

There had been much deliberation when the arranged date would be after the international break and severe fixture congestion for Chelsea due to their Europa League exploits complicated things.

But the Football Association have come together and have decided that Easter Monday is the best possible time for the two clubs to battle it out for a place in the final four of the competition following their entertaining 2-2 draw on Sunday.

Due to the fixture change, Chelsea’s Premier League game against Southampton, originally scheduled for Easter Sunday, has been brought forward to the Saturday.

United are also in action that Saturday when they travel to Sunderland.

A 12.30pm kick-off is scheduled at Stamford Bridge where the winners will face Manchester City in the semi-finals at Wembley on the weekend of April 13 and 14.
