Bundesliga striker would love Manchester United move

Published 13 Comments

Robert Lewandowski is desperate for a move to Manchester United and is keeping tabs on Wayne Rooney’s situation at Old Trafford.

According to The Sun, the Borussia Dortmund striker would love a move to the Premier League and would especially like a move to Old Trafford to play under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rooney’s Manchester United future was called into doubt last week when he was left out of the starting line up for the Champions League last 16 second leg with Real Madrid.

The report claims this has alerted Lewandowski and he would be interested in replacing the England international.

It also says Manchester United came close to landing the Poland international in the summer with a £17million bid, but Ferguson pulled out when he was given the opportunity to sign Arsenal captain Robin van Persie.

According to the report, Lewandowski’s only hope of getting a move to Old Trafford is if Rooney actually leaves or any one of Ferguson’s four senior strikers.

Manchester United currently have an embarrassment if riches in the attacking department with Rooney and Van Persie complimented by Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck.

The report also claims the Bundesliga champions are already lining up a replacement for Lewandowski with Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko on their radar.
