Chelsea will be able to land target Radamel Falcao for €15million less than Real Madrid due to a Atletico Madrid’s desperation for him to not go to their city rivals.

According to the report in Spanish newspaper AS, Falcao has a ‘€15m antimadrid clause’ in his contract that means he would actually cost Jose Mourinho’s club €75million.

It also says Chelsea made a bid of €55million last summer and that would likely be accepted this time around if no other team tries to activate Falcao’s €60million release clasue.

The reason stated in the report for Atletico’s approach is that they are so desperate for Falcao not to join Real Madrid they are willing to accept less money from a team like Chelsea.

€60milllion is not exactly pittance but Blues owner Roman Abramovich has proved before that he is willing to pay big to bring his main targets to Stamford Bridge.

Los Blancos would end up paying more because their local rivals could heap the rest of the costs associated with the move onto the fee they would have to pay.

Atleti are resigned to losing Falcao in the summer and have already started planning for getting in a replacement for the Colombia international.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s reported interest could be down to the Blues hierarchy losing patience with former Atletico captain Fernando Torres and his continued lack of form

Torres has scored only seven Premier League goals this season and has been linked with being a possible makeweight in a deal to take Falcao to Chelsea.
