Fernando Torres reminded all the Chelsea supporters of what he is capable of with an eye-catching performance in Chelsea's 3-1 victory at home to Steaua Bucharest.
Although Torres didn't really produce any decent chances in the first half of the game, he really came to life in the second half.
After a well taken goal, which was only his second goal this calendar year, his confidence brimmed, and he became a constant threat whenever he had the ball at his feet. At times, he even showed off some fancy footwork, and constantly put his markers in doubt.
An impressive performance was soured by a kick to the face which broke Torres' nose. However, he didn't want to be replaced, and continued to cause trouble for the Bucharest defenders. It seemed as though he would get a brace when he offered to take a penalty, however he was unlucky, as it smashed against the crossbar.
Despite those two setbacks, the striker that once looked so shy and tame in front of goal, continued to thwart the opposition, and had the goalkeeper not played so well, he would have managed to register a few more goals.
Although it has been said many times that his best form is still on the way, his performance against Steaua made a decent Chelsea side into a terrific one.
Had he not stepped up to the plate in that game, there is every possibility that Chelsea would be out of the Europa League. If he can continue to produce performances that were half the level displayed against Steaua, then Chelsea will have no more problems with their striker's lack of goals.
