Brazilian outfit Santos are eyeing up a bid for Manchester United midfielder Anderson, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

Anderson has found regular first-team football hard to come by since joining Manchester United in 2007.

The 24-year-old has only made 20 appearances for the Red Devils this term, and has started just five Premier League games.

That has opened up the possibility of a move away from Old Trafford, and while the Brazilian was briefly linked with a move to Tottenham, A Bola suggest a return home could be on the cards.

Should he sign for Santos he would line up alongside Brazilian superstar Neymar, who was reportedly a summer target for Manchester United.

The former Porto star has previously insisted he was happy with life at Manchester United despite his lack of game time.

"Everyone knows I am happy at the club," he told the club's official website. I have had a lot of injuries but I have never let the smile go from my face. I try to help the team all the time. This is me. When I want to leave, I will have to talk to the boss first. I don't have any issues.

Anderson is in Manchester United's squad for their game against Reading this evening.
