There are times when great players can make you feel good by not upholding their usually sky high standards and Champions League legend Clarence Seedorf has done just that.
When players like Seedorf manage to fluff chances to utterly terribly like he did this weekend, it serves as a reminder of how our most vaunted stars can reach a level as low as the amateur on a boggy pitch on Sunday morning.
Seedorf is famous for being the first player to win the Champions League four times and with three different teams.
The Dutchman lifted the trophy with Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan during a career that now, at the age of 36, has taken him to Brazil and Botafogo.
Seedorf’s side were cruising to a 4-0 win over minnows Quissama when he was presented with an open goal on a quick breakaway.
He showed great speed for a man his age to get into position but the finish wasn’t quite up to his standards.
The goalkeeper was falling over in desperation to get to him but it was never happening, so he must have been hugely relieved when Seedorf ballooned the simple chance over the bar.
Seedorf looked puzzled after the horrendous miss, as if he wasn’t sure what had just happened to him.
Take a look for yourself above.
