Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings generously offered two free match tickets to a grateful Twitter user who said he could not afford to attend Saturday's game against Bolton.
A lot of footballers can get into a lot of trouble when using social networking sites - particularly Twitter.
Several stars have been fined heavily because of tweeting unacceptable things on their own personal accounts and many are now warned by the club against using the site to keep safe and out of the public eye.
However, a young Ipswich Town defender used his Twitter account in a very different way and earned widespread praise after delegating two tickets to a 'skint' football fan who wished him good luck before his side's match against Bolton.
Mings is a 19-year-old defender at the Championship club, was was barely known before this kind gesture. The defender doesn't even have a Wikipedia page and used to play for non-league Yate Town while working as a mortgage advisor.
For a teenager to make such a kind gesture took a lot of the world by surprise, especially from a footballer as well. But Mings has now become an internet hit because of what he did for a fan at the weekend.
The Twitter conversation went as follows:
Tyrone Mings: "3 points today would be an ideal late birthday present. Bit of pasta now then off to the game.
Tris Monk: @TyroneMings1 Good luck today, wish I was there to watch, hopefully 3 points #skint
Tyrone Mings: @Blutris89 Can you get to Portman Road?
Tris Monk: @TyroneMings1 Yes mate
Tyrone Mings: @Blutris89 Left you 2 tickets under the name Tris Monk. Shouldn't miss a game because you can't afford it #ITFC
Later on after Ipswich beat Bolton 1-0, the fan once again tweeted the player to show his gratitude.
Tris Monk: @TyroneMings1 Thanks for today mate, really appreciated it, players like you who make itfc a great club! #legend
Tryone Mings: @Blutris89 No problem. Hope you made the game and had a good day #ITFC"
