Liverpool's season during 2012-2013 has certainly had it's ups and downs since Brendan Rodgers took over as manager on 1 June 2012.

The 2012-2013 season started with a stutter for Liverpool, with them playing in six games before their first win came.  Although when you consider their first fixtures of the new season included; Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United, their failure to win was not deemed too big of a problem.

After their convincing first win away at Norwich, Liverpool only managed to win two games in the next eight, with wins coming at home against Reading and Wigan.

December 2012 proved to be a better month for the Anfield outfit with victories coming in four of the six games played that month. This included beating; Southampton, West Ham United, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers.

After the turn of the year, Liverpool's form again was seemingly hit or miss,   with them winning only two of their next six games, drawing two and losing the other two.

The game against Swansea on 17 February 2013 seemed to be a turning point for the red men, with an inspired 5-0 victory. The reds carried this fine form into their next game against Wigan Athletic with another high scoring victory, this time 4-0. Their next game promised to be a tougher challenge as they welcomed Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield. Again their resilience of late ensured they came out the victors, with Liverpool coming from behind to win 3-2.

With high confidence, Liverpool went to Southampton intent on securing another three points, yet could only score what turned out to be a consolation goal in a 3-1 defeat.

On occasions this season Liverpool have shown real promise, yet the sticking point seems to be their consistency. As they sit in 7th in the Premier League table, surely in order to become a side capable of pushing their way back into the top four, money needs to be spent.
