Manchester United have handed a trial to promising young Danish midfielder Jacob Rassmussen.
According to Danish club OB, Sir Alex Ferguson’s scouts have identified the 16-year-old defender as a possible star for the future and invited him to train at Carrington.
Rasmussen’s club announced he would be travelling to Manchester United on Sunday and would spend a week training with players of his age group.
Manchester United’s invitation to Rasmussen came at a time when reports emerged of a possible summer clear out at Old Trafford.
Names such as Anderson, Nani, Anders Lindegaard, Alex Buttner and Javier Hernandez have been linked with summer moves away.
Such wholesale changes would suggest Ferguson intending to overhaul his squad, despite Manchester United looking all but certain to snatch the Premier League title away from rivals Manchester City.
Roberto Mancini’s side lost 2-0 at Everton in the early kick-off on Saturday and left the door open for the Red Devils to extend their lead.
They did just that at home to Reading in the evening kick-off where a solitary Wayne Rooney goal saw Ferguson’s men go 15 points clear at the top.
