This season hasn't been the most fruitful for Emmanuel Adebayor at Tottenham Hotspur, with fans accusing him of lacking heart, passion and enthusiasm for the club.
He looks to be struggling with confidence issues.
Spurs have had strikers that haven't performed brilliantly in the past, Darren Bent being one of the more memorable. Bent came to Spurs from Charlton in 2007 for a record £16.5 million after scoring 31 goals in 68 appearances. As a Spurs player he only managed 18 goals in 60 appearances.
The purchase of Adebayor from Manchester City was a popular one after he had been on season long loan with Tottenham during the 2011-2012 season. During his loan spell, he had played in 33 games, scoring a total of 17 league goals. Since his purchase in the summer of 2012, he has made 17 appearances for the North London outfit, scoring only four goals, two of which came in the league.
His last goal for Spurs came in the Europa League, during the second leg of their Inter Milan tie. His goal, scored in extra-time put the English side through, on the away goals rule.
Adebayor would benefit from a run in the Spurs side and would undoubtedly give him the confidence to move in a more forward position and take the chances that come to him. This would lead to more goals and a better all round player.
