Defenders

Carl Jenkinson | Arsenal

Fresh from his superb display at the Allianz Arena, Jenkinson was plainly full of confidence, and he was excellent at the Liberty Stadium.

Arsenal's new-found defensive solidity has been borne out of extra video training apparently, but whatever it is, it's certainly working.

Nacho Monreal | Arsenal

Another piece of the Arsenal back-line which kept back-to-back clean sheets for only the second time this year.

A first shot on target for the Gunners from Monreal also brought his first goal. Could be a crucial one in the race for the top four.

Rio Ferdinand | Manchester United

England selection drama aside, Rio Ferdinand remains a quality Premier League defender.

Against Reading he crafted the only goal, surging from the back, flicking the ball past a onrushing defender and into the path of Wayne Rooney. An assist and a clean sheet.

Laurent Koscielny | Arsenal

Koscielny's enjoyed a good week. Thomas Vermaelen's stock has never been lower, and his French replacement looks to be building a strong relationship with Per Mertesacker.
