Chelsea defeated West Ham United in their most-recent Premier League match at Stamford Bridge to boost their chances of a top-four finish.

That 2-0 win lifted the Blues up to third place in the table, four points behind second-placed Manchester City and one point ahead of Tottenham.

Spurs have also played one more game than Chelsea, which is an advantage for the boys in blue.

Chelsea went ahead in the 19th-minute with a delightful header from Frank Lampard. West Ham simply couldn't find the net and Chelsea took full advantage of this in the second half with Eden Hazard finishing off a fantastic chipped through-ball from Juan Mata. Chelsea were in full control of the whole match and managed to come away with a 2-0 home win.

Recently, the Premier League table has become congested in the top eight and the bottom six. Chelsea are in contention with Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool for European competition spots for next season.

Currently, the Blues are in the Europa League and will have to beat Rubin Kazan and a few other teams in this year's competition.

Manchester United seem to have the Premier League wrapped up but Chelsea will do their best to take second place off Manchester City.

Most teams still have eight or nine matches left in the English top division and, with the season coming to a close, I have put together my predicted top seven:

1. Manchester United

2. Chelsea

3. Manchester City

4. Tottenham

5. Everton

6. Arsenal

7. Liverpool
