Scotland face Wales in their upcoming World Cup Qualifier, and the on-loan Aston Villa man insists that although Gareth Bale has unbelievable quality, the game won’t just be about stopping the in-form Welshman.

The flying Tottenham winger is in white-hot form this season, bagging 16 goals in the Premier League so far, and 10 in his last 10 appearances across all competitions. On the other hand, Hutton is part of a Mallorca back-line that has conceded 12 goals in their last 5 appearances in La Liga.

The 28-year-old was assigned the frightening task of marking Cristiano Ronaldo during Real Madrid’s 5-2 win over Mallorca earlier this month. But despite shipping five goals, including a trademark Ronaldo header, Hutton describes his battle with the dangerous Portuguese player as the perfect preparation for taking on Bale.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hutton said;"You don't want to be going into a game against someone like Bale if your confidence is down. So playing against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu can only help me in that regard.

"It was a great match to play in before coming here to play in a game like this.

"These are opportunities for me to show I can play against these players. The Wales game is just another challenge I'm looking forward to."

Bale scored twice last time the two nations met in a 2-1 victory for Wales in October last year and many feel that stopping him is key to Scotland getting their qualification campaign back on track.

The Mallorca fullback believes that it is crucial for Scotland to get a win over Wales, and the battle between Bale and himself will be pivotal.

Refusing to be intimidated by the Welsh wonder, Hutton declared; “'We have to take the game to them because we are at home and we shouldn't go into it worrying about one of their players.

"Yes, obviously you have to be careful with him but we can't be 100 per cent focused just on him. We'll want them to worry more about us.

"He (Bale) can be unbelievable at times - but, at the end of the day, he's just another player," said the former Rangers defender.
