Liverpool and West Ham could miss out on transfer target

Published 1 Comments

Liverpool and West Ham target Eljero Elia could make a switch to Russian side CSKA Moscow, giving Tottenham the chance to make a move to sign Alan Dzagoev, according to talkSPORT.

The Dutch winger Elia has been closely watched by Liverpool since his time at Hamburg.

The Reds were keen to bring the 26-year-old to Anfield before he joined Juventus in 2011 for a €9 million fee.

Elia, capped by Holland 27 times, has struggled to make an impact in Italy but reports in Russia claim his displays have enticed CSKA into making him a possible replacement for Dzagoev.

After failing to sign playmaker Joao Moutinho from Porto, Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has the Russian in his mind.

However, Dzagoev is expected to be wanted by a few clubs this summer and the White Hart Lane side could face a challenge from Juventus for his signature.
