Chelsea & Manchester City target wants to stay in Italy, says agent
Napoli forward Edinson Cavani will not sign for Chelsea or Manchester City this summer
The 26-year-old has a burgeoning reputation as one of the most prolific forwards in world football at the moment, having scored 69 goals in just 96 appearances in Serie 'A' over the past three years.
Citizens boss Roberto Mancini has been heavily linked with a bid to bring the Uruguayan international to the Etihad Stadium, as he seeks to reinforce his front line following the January sale of Mario Balotelli.
Balotelli returned to his native Italy when he joined AC Milan at the turn of the year, and with some question marks still surrounding the long-term future of Carlos Tevez, Cavani is believed to have been identified by Manchester City as a replacement.
Chelsea are also monitoring the South American's situation, as Roman Abramovich looks to strengthen the Stamford Bridge squad, even before appointing a new permanent manager, after interim boss Rafa Benitez leaves at the end of the season.
However, Cavani's agent Gennaro Famiglietti has dealt both Manchester City and Chelsea a blow after reiterating that his client is happy in Naples, and has no desire to leave Stadio San Paolo this summer.
"Cavani loves the club and the city," Famiglietti confirmed on Italian radio station Kiss Kiss. "We have already said that he is ready to stay if the squad can become stronger and new signings can arrive.
"Few clubs can pay the price for Cavani and this will determine his future. There is no agreement with anybody. The player is ambitious and wants to win titles with Napoli."
