Norwich City are the latest club to be linked with Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old Austrian international has eleven goals to his name in 28 appearances in all competitions this season and is slowly building his reputation as a forward.

His performances have put him ahead of Darren Bent in the club's pecking order as he has built a strong frontline partnership with the impressive Christian Benteke.

Weimann currently has one year remaining on his current deal at Villa Park and reports suggest that renewal talks have broken down. With Villa's Premier League status in jeopardy, he may find a move to a more secure Premier League club too hard to turn down.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton has reportedly turned his attention to the Austrian forward after narrowly missing out on Celtic's Gary Hooper in January.

Despite his ever-improving performances, Weimann has slipped under the radar for many as Christian Benteke has stole most of the headlines for Villa this season. Not only has Benteke been impressive but the controversy surrounding Darren Bent’s lack of team action has also overshadowed Weimann.

His strong partnership with Benteke means that keeping him should be one of Paul Lambert’s top priorities but if Weimann refuses to sign a new deal, Villa may opt to sell in the summer.

The Austrian is sure to have a number of suitors but Norwich are looking to steal a march on the rest despite already having strikers: Grant Holt, Simeon Jackson and Luciano Becchio in their ranks.
