Chelsea are gearing up for another attempt at signing highly-rated Germany international Andre Schürrle.
According to The Express, the Blues tried to sign the 22-year-old last summer but were put off by the £25million price tag put on him by his club Bayer Leverkusen.
However, the Stamford Bridge outfit are ready to make another attempt at luring Schürrle away from the Bundesliga and to the Premier League.
The report claims Chelsea will look to exploit Leverkusen’s interest in their Belgian winner Kevin de Bruyne, who is currently on loan at Werder Bremen.
De Bruyne has yet to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea and he was recently quoted as saying he would be open to remaining in Germany.
Schürrle would cost significantly more than the £7million Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich paid for De Bruyne but the young winger signed from Genk could provide something of a sweetener for the deal.
Schürrle is a versatile forward and is comfortable operating either out wide or through the middle.
