Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell on road to recovery
Manchester city news: Jack Rodwell looking to be back within two weeks
Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell has revealed that he will be back from a troublesome hamstring injury within the next two weeks.
The former Everton player has only started 11 games for the Blues this season after first suffering the injury back in September.
The 22-year-old could only manage 25 minutes before limping off with the injury against Aston Villa on March 4, however, he feels he will be back in training next week.
Rodwell said to Sky Sports: "It's just over two weeks into my injury now and it's healing well, I'm hoping for maybe another two weeks until I'm back on the pitch.
"I'll hopefully train within the next 10 days, that my aim."
The youngster has represented England at all levels and managed to force his way into the senior squad, making his debut against Spain in November 2011.
Rodwell signed for Manchester City in the summer for an undisclosed fee and has admitted that he's been suffering with the problem for a while.
He added: "It's a recurring injury, still my hamstring on the same leg. It's probably a different muscle - different areas of the hamstring."
Although Man City's next game at home to Newcastle may be a touch to early for Rodwell, he says he's not going to take any risks this early into his career.
"If it takes a week more, then it will be a week more just to be on the safe side, but we'll see - hopefully two more weeks is all I will need," Rodwell explained.
"But i'm running well now and getting up to a good speed, nearly full speed.
"It's just a minor setback and it's a long career. I'm still young and I just have to stay positive."
