Top 5: Chelsea summer transfer targets
Marouane Fellaini, Edinson Cavani & Marco Reus could all fire Chelsea to success
Despite spending heavily last Summer, with the likes of Brazilian Oscar and Belgian Eden Hazard coming in, Chelsea look to be short of a top class striker and perhaps a reliable centre-back.
Also as Frank Lampard looks set for the exit door, it seems that a new central-midfield player may be required as well.
5. Jores Okore
Okore is a young quick and defensively sound centre back and could develop into one of Europe's best defenders. At the tender age of 20 he fits Chelsea's transfer policy and will not need to play every match to be kept happy. Without a huge transfer fee this could be a great transfer for both Chelsea and the player.
4. Edinson Cavani
If Chelsea are looking to sign a big name striker Cavani must be near the top of the short list. Having been tracked for sometime by many huge European clubs he has been in scintillating form, bagging 20 league goals already this term.
The only potential downside to this transfer is the price as Chelsea will be keen to avoid another overpriced flop.
3. Marouane Fellaini
If Frank Lampard is leaving in the Summer, Fellaini would be the ideal candidate to replace him. He can play a defensive and attacking role and would be the physically strong player that Chelsea need at the heart of their midfield.
At the age of 25 he is entering his prime and Chelsea will have to fight off stern competition to successfully capture the powerful Belgian.
2. Raphael Varane
At 19 Varane has his whole career ahead of him and he already looks a solid, yet dynamic choice in Real Madrid's defence this season. Recently against Manchester United he impressed particularly keeping both Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney quiet over the two legs. His market value is increasing by the day, so the longer Chelsea wait to act the more expensive he will become.
1. Marco Reus
Everything about this player is impressive and if he was signed he would surely end Chelsea's search for their lead centre forward. Scoring eleven and setting up ten this season, he has been used as an attacking midfielder but can also play in the central striker role.
His skilful and creative style of play suits this Chelsea team and at 23, he still has some developing to do. I honestly can't find any negative aspects to this potential transfer and if it happened it would be fantastic for Chelsea.
