Norwich City have signed Dutch international striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee as announced by their official website.

Van Wolfswinkel will join the Canaries, subject to paperwork, for an undisclosed fee on a 4-year-contract that will see the 24-year-old begin his Norwich career for the 2014/2015.

Van Wolfswinkel started his career with Vitesse Armhem and worked his way up through the youth team, making his first-team debut in 2008. That season he scored 8 goals in 35 games.

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel currently plays in the Portuguese league and has been a very impressive goal scorer; notching up 82 goals in 188 appearances for Sporing Lisbon, FC Utrecht and Vitesse Arnhem.

This impressive form led Chris Hughton to act quickly for the lethal Dutchman, securing his signature well before the transfer window opens in July.

With the capture of the striker it will no doubt improve the squad’s goal-scoring tally next season.

Speaking on the Canaries club website, Chris Hughton stated:

"Ricky’s profile is a perfect fit for us – he’s young, ambitious and a proven goal-scorer.
“He has an excellent goal-scoring pedigree and he’s a young man very keen to continue his personal progression and to play in England. He’s already an exciting talent but he still has more development as a player ahead of him.

“I’m delighted we’ve been able to agree a deal with Sporting Lisbon and with Ricky and we look forward to welcoming him to the squad in July, once all of the paperwork gets sorted out.”
