Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone admits that star striker Radamel Falcao might be tempted away from the club, with continued speculation linking the Colombian with moves to Chelsea and Manchester City this summer, reports Sky Sports.

The 27-year-old is one of the most prolific players in world football at the moment, and has attracted attention from a host of top European clubs.

Citizens boss Roberto Mancini has been credited with an interest in bringing the South American to the Etihad Stadium, as he continues his search for a replacement for Mario Balotelli, who returned to his native Italy in January, following a move to AC Milan.

However, Manchester City face competition for Falcao's signature, as long-term admirers Chelsea also weigh up an attempt to lure the Atletico Madrid star to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens in July.

The Blues are still without a permanent manager, but that is unlikely to stop Russian owner Roman Abramovich from pressing ahead with plans to strengthen the Chelsea squad ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

It's not yet clear how much money it will take to tempt Los Rojiblancos into selling, but Simeone has conceded that when big clubs come calling, it's difficult to prevent players from leaving the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

"It is complicated, but it would be fabulous if he stayed," the Argentine told Spanish radio show Al Primer Toque.

"I am not his agent. I am not Falcao. Falcao has given me a lot and is a player with commitment and I respect him a lot for that. The fans do not have to judge him after all he has given."

A possible light at the end of the tunnel for fans of the Primera Division outfit is the fact that Atletico Madrid have lost big players before, but always managed to replace them well.

"[Fernando] Torres went and [Sergio] Aguero cam, which was a risky bet. [Diego] Forlan went and Falcao came," pointed out Simeone.

"If he does end up leaving, another competitive player will surely arrive."
