Jack Wilshere has recuperated after two weeks of rest and treatment and is set to return to help the Gunners to a top four finish according to The Mirror.

Jack Wilshere missed the second leg Champions League match against Bayern Munich as well as a Premier League fixture against Swansea after injuring his ankle.

Initial reports suggested a relapse of the ankle injury that kept him side-lined for the whole of last season. After those fears were put to rest there were further reports that he had suffered a setback that would keep him out for the rest of the season. It now seems that Wilshere is fit and ready to resume full training.

Fortunately, Arsenal did not miss Wilshere’s creative presence too much as they recorded an impressive 2-0 victory at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich and replicated that score line in Wales against Swansea in an essential triumph to keep their top-four hopes alive.

However, a fit Wilshere will be crucial in the Gunners’ crusade for a Champions League qualification in the remaining nine matches of the season, and Arsenal fans will be elated that the young Englishman is set to return.

Whilst the youngster is keen to play in the fixture against Reading on Saturday, a more realistic return date will be that of the April 13 clash against Norwich.

He will be crucial to the Gunners’ hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. Arsenal currently sit in fifth and trail their rivals Tottenham by four points and third placed Chelsea by five. They’ll also have to guard their rear as Everton are closing in and trailing the Emirates outfit by just two points.

Arsene Wenger is justifiably hesitant to rush Wilshere back into the fray.

The young Englishman is a talent to take note of and if he can stay fit he will certainly play an enormous role for Arsenal and England in seasons to come.
