Italian defender Andrea Barzagli has claimed that his international teammate Mario Balotelli is ready to become the star of the next World Cup, ahead of Brazilian wonder kid Neymar.
The pair were involved in an entertaining match with the Italians coming from 2-0 down to secure a credible draw against the five-time World Cup winners. Mario Balotelli struck a superb equalizer to cap a remarkable comeback for the Azzuri, outshining his Brazilian counterpart in the process.
Speaking to La Stampa Barzagli said: ”Who seems to be more ready to become the star of the next World Cup? For me, Balotelli is more ready, because he already has had more important experiences.
“Neymar is a phenomenon and only lacks European experience to be the best, but as I mentioned, Balotelli is proving to be more ready at this point”.
Balotelli has been sensational since his move to AC Milan with an outstanding seven goals in six games for the Rossoneri.
The ex-Manchester City and Inter Milan player was instrumental for Italy at Euro 2012, singlehandedly winning the game against Germany in the semi finals.
Neymar has also been instrumental for Santos this season but has failed to turn up in the big games so far in his career. Although, the Brazilian international was involved in both goals against the Italians, he has failed to really take the world by storm.
Balotelli and Neymar are two completely different players plying their trade in two completely different leagues. Neymar is no doubt more talented than Balotelli but Balotelli seems to be coming of age at the right time for both club and country.
