Manchester United and Liverpool will have to fight off interest from AC Milan if they want to land transfer target Jackson Martinez.
According to talkSPORT, both Old Trafford and Anfield scouts have been watching the Porto star and eyed him as possible addition to their respective strike forces.
Now Sir Alex Ferguson and Brendan Rodgers look as though they will have to battle the Italian giants for Martinez’s signature.
Manchester United’s interest in Martinez is likely to depend on the futures of their current forwards.
Ferguson has a formidable front line in the form of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez.
Hernandez has been linked with a switch away from Old Trafford in the summer and the Porto striker could be seen as a direct replacement, should the Mexican leave.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s star man Luis Suarez is another player that has been linked with a move as the Reds look likely to miss out on Champions League qualification once more.
The report claims Martinez has a buyout clause of €40million but questions whether any of the teams would be willing to meet that.
However, should all of AC Milan, Manchester United and Liverpool decide they want to bid for the 26-year-old, the resulting bidding war could push the price high.
Martinez has been a revelation since he joined Porto from Mexican side Jaguares, scoring 23 goals in 23 league games.
