West Ham may have to beat Fulham in a race for the signature of £15million rated Wilfried Bony, according to the London Evening Standard.

The Ivory Coast striker has scored 26 goals in 24 games this season for Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem and with the Hammers scoring just 32 goals in 29 game this season, Bony could be the man to fill the gap.

After recently securing a move to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, the east London side could receive more good news if they meet the £15million valutation set by Vitesse.

Co-chairman David Sullivan has put a striker at the top of their priorities list and is willing to beat the club record £11million which they paid Wolves for winger Matt Jarvis at the start of the season.

Bony has admitted that he would be open for a move to England and believes it is a matter of time before he leaves Holland.

He said to Voetbal International: "I love the Premier League and I would like to play if the opportunity is there. I am an ambitious player.

"I enjoy playing football in the Netherlands, but i expect a transfer to a bigger league with how I am doing."

Meanwhile, Sam Allardyce is expected to stay as West Ham manager and could sign a new deal within the next month providing the Hammers stay in the Premier League and demands can be met.
