Manchester United legends will take on a team of Real Madrid greats in a charity match at Old Trafford this summer.
The two teams will meet on June 2nd to make money for the Manchester United foundation, and a host of big-names are already signed-up for the Red Devils.
Edwin Van der Sar, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole have all agreed to play for 'Red Heart United', with Jaap Stam, Lee Sharpe and Teddy Sheringham also in the team.
Ex-Manchester United captain Bryan Robson will lead the team as manager, and it’s a match Van der Sar simply can’t wait for.
“I was lucky to enjoy an incredible career and finish on a high with Manchester United. Of course I have missed playing football and I’m really looking forward to returning to Old Trafford,” said the Dutch stopper, according to The Daily Mail.
“Nothing can replicate the feeling of competing in front of a home crowd against quality opposition like Real Madrid and to do it for charity makes it more special.”
The side from the Spanish capital is set to be announced next week, with Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Steve McManaman some of the names that could be involved for the La Liga giants.
It’s a game that will also give the Premier League leaders a chance for revenge, following Manchester United’s controversial loss to Real Madrid in this season’s Champions League.
