Chelsea legend Didier Drogba wants more Champions League success
Galatasary striker Didier Drogba wants to win Champions League again
Didier Drogba is desperate to inspire Galatasary to Champions League glory this season, just 12 months after leading Chelsea to an historic triumph over Bayern Munich.
The 34-year-old was Chelsea's hero in last season's final, with Drogba cancelling out Thomas Muller's goal for Bayern, before scoring the decisive spot-kick in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout at the Allianz Arena.
Drogba's penalty was his finally act as a Chelsea player, with the Stamford Bridge legend leaving west London for a new adventure with Shanghai Shenhua, which ultimately ended in failure.
The Ivorian striker is now back in European football with Galatasaray, having joined the Istanbul club in the January transfer window, and has set his sights on yet more glory in the Champions League.
Drogba, unlike his former club Chelsea, remains in Europe's elite club competition, and the Turkish giants' reward for beating Schalke in the last 16 is a quarter-final encounter with Real Madrid.
The Chelsea legend is, however, far from daunted by the prospect of facing Real Madrid, and hopes to go all the way for the second season in succession.
"It's a big pleasure to play in the Champions League," he told TRT Spor.
"To hear that music makes me excited. I want to win the cup and live those emotions again. Our faith brought us to this level. I have moved one step forward in my football career."
