Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho was snapped by an eagle-eyed fan at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening, as speculation mounts the former Chelsea boss could return to the west London club at the end of the season.

Mourinho was at the Bridge to watch the international friendly between Brazil and Russia, and was pictured attempting to hide his identity by wearing a hooded top, with the photos of the ex-Blues manager appearing in the Daily Mail.

The 50-year-old Portuguese is the favourite with the bookmakers to become the next permanent Chelsea manager in the summer, with the interim tenure of Rafael Benitez set to finish at the end of the season.

Mourinho fuelled speculation that he could return to Chelsea, the club he left in acrimonious circumstances in 2007, during an interview on Tuesday afternoon, during which he outlined 'emotional connection' to the Blues.

The Real Madrid head coach reinforced his love for London life, stating that he still owns a house in the city and his daughter plans to make the capital her home to study, and claimed he will return to the Premier League at some stage.

Mourinho was coy on his future at the Santiago Bernabeu, stating he was 'very committed' to the club until the end of the campaign, and reports this week have suggested a deal is already in place to bring him back to Chelsea.

The Special One won two Premier League titles and one FA Cup during his time as Chelsea, while he also recorded two triumphs in the League Cup and clinching the Community Shield in 2005.
