Growing up, Juventus star Pavel Nedved was one of my favourite players to watch.

The man was, without doubt, one of the greatest and most creative midfielders of his generation. My deepest regret is that we never got to see this great player grace the Premier League.

But his accomplishments make him one of my footballing idols, and here are just a few reasons why:

Nedved is, in my mind, one of the most innovative midfielders of all time. His sheer ability, both in scoring and creating goals, dazzled Serie A for a number of years, leading to a host of titles and deserved awards for the great Czech.

His ability to astound opponents with his incredible touch and foresight with his play was almost like a sixth sense, and his goalscoring and assist records throughout his career speaks for itself.

No one could ever quite solve the Pavel Nedved riddle.

Entertainment Factor

Nedved was a pleasure to watch as a young football fan. Not only did he get the job done, he got it done in style. I used to be in awe of this man's sheer ability to dazzle both the crowd and opposition, and I can honestly say there are very few players I have enjoyed watching more than this man.

He has a host of incredible goals to his name and was loved by everyone in Italian football simply for his sheer ability to offer moments of football that shocked and stunned the world.

Nedved may very well be the most gifted player in regards to putting both of his feet to good use. Equally deadly accurate with both his right or left foot, he is one of the few players capable of performing such magic with a touch from either foot.

Long-range goals became synonymous with the former Czech Republic international, and he certainly did not earn the moniker 'The Czech Cannon' for nothing, as a shot with either foot has the potential to rocket into the net.

Nedved has a multitude of titles and accolades to his name. He remains  arguably the greatest footballing product to ever come out of the Czech Republic, and it's not hard to see why.

A man who holds numerous footballing trophies on his resume, both on the domestic and European stage, as well as winner of the Ballon d'Or and the Czech Player of the Year accolade on numerous occasions, Nedved's career simply glistened with success.

For me, Nedved is perhaps one of the most complete midfielders of all time.

The man had it all: the ability, the success, and the charisma and style to make the game a pleasure to watch for millions around the world.

Surely recognised as one of the greats of his generation, and certainly a living legend in the eyes of his beloved Juventus fans, Nedved was a pure joy to watch and a huge part of my love for football.
