Napoli are interested in signing Brazilian forward Leandro Damiao, according to sources in Italy.

The Serie A outfit are said to be keen on landing the Internacional forward if leading man Edinson Cavani heads for the exit in the summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Napoli could be gearing up to make a bid in the region of €22-25 million.

The Italian paper also report Damaiao has expressed an interest in joining the Naples-based club.

The news comes as a blow for Tottenham, who have failed with repeated attempts to land the Brazilian striker.

Spurs made a last-gasp move for Damiao during the January transfer window but failed, and while boss Andre Villas-Boas insisted after the window had slammed shut that the north London club's interest was over, they are expected to try again in the summer.

Tottenham have been short of attacking options all season and are expected to make a move for a new forward in the summer.

Their ability to put up a fight against Napoli will likely be helped if they can secure Champions League football this season.

They currently sit in 4th place in the Premier League, four points ahead of rivals Arsenal who have a game in hand.
