Chelsea are the latest big-name club to be linked with a move for Danish sensation Christian Eriksen.
The Daily Star claims scouts from Stamford Bridge were present during the 1-1 draw against Bulgaria in World Cup qualifying last night, with Danish paper Sporten going on to report that Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid also had ‘spies’ at the match.
Spurs have been amongst the clubs most heavily linked with a move both before and during the reign of Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane, and ClubCall today (Wednesday) claimed that north London is the most likely destination for the player.
However, the Star suggests Chelsea’s presence at the game last night could signal a late move from the Blues for the player in the summer transfer window.
If Eriksen were to swap Ajax for west London, it’s unclear who his manager would be at this stage however, with ‘interim boss’ Rafa Benitez set to leave the club at the end of the campaign.
Owner Roman Abramovich is yet to find the Spaniard’s successor on the King’s Road, and it could cause transfer problems if Chelsea can't appoint a new number one before the window re-opens on July 1st.
