Manchester City's defensive coach Angelo Gregucci has reaffirmed the club's interest in Napoli striker - and reported Chelsea and Real Madrid target - Edinson Cavani, reports Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan international is widely regarded as one of the best forward's in world football at the moment, and has attracted admiring glances from a number of top European clubs.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been heavily linked with a move for a player valued at £60million by his current club, as the Serie 'A' side tries to ward off unwanted enquiries for Cavani.

Jose Mourinho is also rumoured to be keen on the South American, and talk of his possible return to Stamford Bridge this summer could be followed by the arrival of Cavani in west London.

The player has admitted himself he's unsure where he'll be playing his football next season, but if one thing's certain, it's that Roberto Mancini will firm up his interest by offering him the chance to move to the Etihad Stadium when the transfer window reopens in July.

Despite confirming Manchester City's plans, Gregucci insisted that there is no 'exclusive' deal in place for the reigning Premier League champions to sign Cavani.

"He is an important player and any club which wants to be better must look at players like him," he told Radio Crc. "Mancini has expressed his appreciation for Cavani, but there is no 'exclusive' for City."

Speculation has also suggested that Cavani's arrival could spell the end for Edin Dzeko, but Gregucci was quick to play down rumours of a departure adding: "Dzeko is an important player too and, at the moment, it seems inappropriate to speak of the market."
