The Spurs manager is thought to be a fan of the Belgium international, who's settled into life in English football superbly, scoring 13 goals in 30 games.
Aston Villa face a battle to avoid relegation this season, but the West Midlands club have Benteke to thank for keeping them out of the bottom three so far.
He's scored 42 per cent of the goals this season, leading the line with a number of powerful performances and keeping Darren Bent on the bench.
Tottenham have a shortage of forwards, with Andre Villas-Boas forced to pick between Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor when both are fit.
Gareth Bale is the club's top scorer with 16 so far this term, and the Welshman has picked up the slack in the absence of a clinical centre-forward.
But with Spurs hopeful of securing Champions League football next season, Villas-Boas is thought to be keen to bring in a recognised, powerful forward.
Benteke was signed by Villa for £7m last summer from Belgian side Genk, and the 22-year-old has shown real potential. Capable of scoring goals from all over the pitch, Benteke could be tempted by Champions League football, especially if Villa don't beat the drop.
But Spurs can expect competition from Manchester City. Roberto Mancini's side have space in the squad for another striker of their own, with Mario Balotelli sold in January and Edin Dzeko reportedly on his way out.
There also remains the possibility that Benteke could move abroad, with Inter Milan believed to be keen to offer him an escape route to Serie 'A'.
