Barcelona star targeted by mega-rich Russians

Anzhi Makhachkala have set their sights on capturing Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes from Barcelona, reports Marca.com.

After speaking out in public about his desire to leave the club, teams such as Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with the Spanish 'keeper in recent months.

According to Marca, it is however the Russians that are hot favourites to sign Valdes this summer, and they're prepared to trump their rivals, jumping to the head of the queue with a record-breaking offer.

The mega-rich Russians are preparing to offer a deal in the region of €10m-a-year with add-ons, reaching €12m. This would make him the world's highest paid goalkeeper on a weekly wage of approximately €200,000-a-week.

With Samuel Eto'o as club captain and Roberto Carlos as sporting director, Valdes would also be welcomed by familiar faces at Anzhi, along with the coach Guus Hiddink, should he make a transfer this summer.

Should Valdes be looking to stay in Spain? Would a Premier League move be better for his career? Maybe the money will persuade him to join Anzhi? Whatever you think, get in touch and have your say below.
