Tottenham manager targets 16 points for top-four finish
Tottenham news: Andre Villas-Boas sets his sights on Champions League football
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas claims his side will need a minimum of 16 points to secure fourth place and the all-important Champions League qualification spot.
Spurs are currently sitting in the final slot on 54 points with eight games remaining. They are four points clear of fifth place arch-rivals Arsenal, who do however have a game in hand.
Villas-Boas has targeted this total of points to accumulate in order to achieve his main objective of Champions League football for next season.
The 35-year-old told Sky Sports: "Normally to finish in the top four requires something in the 70-72 point margin.
"Seventy is usually enough to be in the four spots.
"There are 24 points to be played for so that means we need 16 more points. You never know, but I think at this time we are within our objectives."
Tottenham travel to Swansea on Saturday and are aiming to get back to winning ways after suffering a shock defeat at home to Fulham last time out. They also have crunch games against Manchester City and Chelsea before the end of the season.
Meanwhile, their north London rivals Arsenal take on relegation threatened Reading at the Emirates on Saturday, so Villas-Boas will know a win is vital for his side as they travel to south Wales this weekend.
Is the points target set out by their boss a realistic one? Or will they even need more points to get fourth?
Have your say below and tell us who you think is going to finish in the qualification places.
