Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has insisted that he has no regrets about choosing Arsenal over Manchester United after he left Cardiff City.

The Welshman was hot property during his time at the Welsh club as he was wanted by Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United back in the summer of 2008, but instead he chose to move to the Emirates Stadium in a deal worth £5m.

The midfielder, who was 17 at the time, has revealed that he was so impressed with how Arsenal went about with the negotiations and has admitted that the manager, Arsene Wenger, paid for him to go out to Switzerland to see him and to hold face-to-face talks.

It hasn't been the smoothest career for Ramsey in an Arsenal shirt with numerous turning points in his career, the main one being his horrific injury suffered in a game against Stoke City back in 2010. After a challenge from Ryan Shawcross, Ramsey lost nine months of his career after breaking his leg.

The majority of Arsenal fans have mixed feelings over the Welsh midfielder, but none of them can fault his passion towards the team as he has revealed previously that he is prepared to play anywhere for the team - even if it means playing in defence.

Despite not winning any trophies since joining Arsenal, Ramsey insists that he is happy at the club and is glad that he chose the Gunners over United.

"The main factor in joining Arsenal was meeting with Arsene Wenger and to hear what his plans were for me," Ramsey told the Daily Mirror. "He has brought through so many youngsters and given them opportunities and turned them into great players.

"They flew me over there to have a meeting with him. I was overwhelmed. I was 17 and one of the best managers in the world wants to meet me face to face.

"It was definitely a hard choice to make at my age, but I've no regrets, I think I made the right choice. I felt more wanted at Arsenal, I felt the plan was better for me and they gave youngsters more opportunities. Manchester United also had a lot of midfielders at the time as well."
