Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon - Parma to Juventus
Undoubtedly one of the best stoppers to ever step into the game Buffon is still the most expensive keeper since his move from Parma to Juventus in 2001 for a record £38million.
He has since been a loyal servant to the Italian champions and helped them to many titles. Gigi is certainly a legend for both club and country.
1)Thiago Silva - AC Milan to PSG
The Brazilian was sold by AC Milan to the mega rich Paris-Saint Germain for a reported fee of £35 million in July 2012.
He has shown that he is worth the money and has performed really well for his team this season who are on course to win the Ligue 1 title, and have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
2) Rio Ferdinand - Leeds to Manchester United
The English star defender transfered to Old Trafford for £29.1million in 2001 - a fee which rose to £33.1million after 4 years.
Keeping inflation into account he can easily be called the most expensive transfer for a defender. Rio has served his club very well for the past 12 years and is a legend at the Theatre of Dreams.
1) Kaka - AC Milan to Real Madrid
Unfortunately he has not been on his best since moving largely due to injuries. We hope that Kaka will once again show his true class and do what he does best.An attacking midfielder by trade Kaka became the most expensive midfielder when he moved to The Santiago Bernabeau in a transfer worth £56million in 2009.
2) Zinedine Zidane - Juventus to Real Madrid
Undoubtedly one of the greatest footballers ever Zizou is also one of the most expensive players. He moved to Madrid in 2001 for a then record fee of £45million.
Being the classy player that he is, Zidane helped his team to become European Champions in 2002. Zidane is a player who has won everything there is to be won and surely is a living legend.
1) Cristiano Ronaldo - Manchester United to Real Madrid
The most sensational transfer of all time took place when Ronaldo joined the Spanish giants in 2009 for a world record fee worth £80million.
The Portuguese star has given his team fruitful returns for the huge investment by scoring 190 goals in just 188 appearances.
2) Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Inter Milan to Barcelona
Zlatan joined the Camp Nou in 2009 in exchange for Samuel Eto'o plus a tranfer fee which summed up to about £59million.
This was another huge transfer and there were big expectations but despite playing well the Swede left Barcelona next year after a falling out with Pep Guardiola and was loaned and later bought by AC Milan. This transfer proved to be a waste of money for Barcelona.
