The FA Cup has been a massive hit in England for years, with every single team in with a shout of glory. Let's take a look back at some of the magic as we pick out five of the best goals scored in the competition in recent years.
5. Eduardo da Silva | Arsenal vs Burnley, 2009
Something good to remember the somewhat forgotten Croatian's time at Arsenal by, after he suffered a torrid time in the capital following a horrific broken leg. Gunners winger Andrei Arshavin fed a ball to Cameroonian midfielder Alex Song, who produced one of his famous chipped through-ball passes to Eduardo, who timed his run well to meet the ball with the outside of his left boot and bury it in the top corner.
4. Nathan Tyson | Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest, 2009
Nottingham Forest were of course huge underdogs going into a match against the mega-rich Manchester City, but this goal gave them the lead and something to savour. The ball was hoofed into the City box, where it met the head of Micah Richards who dealt with the danger poorly, but seemingly well enough to relieve pressure. However, rapid Forest striker Nathan Tyson hit the ball cleanly with a first-time left-footed volley to send a flying effort past Joe Hart and into the bottom corner.
3. Wayne Rooney | Manchester United vs Portsmouth, 2007
Can you have a list of goals without this man in it? Not his well-known smashing effort this time, but this peach consisted of pure technical quality - just ask David James. 'Wazza' was dribbling slowly towards the Portsmouth penalty area, and his marker stuck with him. Just before he reached it, though, he made the choice to produce what I would call a 'feinted-power' effort, only to softly float it over a stranded James in the Pompey goal.
2. Ryan Giggs | Manchester United vs Arsenal, 1999
Okay, so maybe not as recent as the others. But who cares? 1999 is relatively recent, and this goal certainly merits a place on this list. Take one young, mop-headed, rug-chested Welshman in Ryan Giggs and half of the Arsenal team and you have one of the greatest goals in English football history. An eye-sore of a pass from Patrick Vieira gifted the ball to Giggs in the Manchester United half, who then didn't stop running whilst majestically dancing past some world-class players to hammer it past a brilliant David Seaman using his famed left foot.
1. Steven Gerrard | Liverpool vs West Ham United, 2006
Now, this goal is truly iconic and sums up what the FA Cup is all about - never make assumptions. Yes, Liverpool were a better side than West Ham, but they were also 3-1 down until 'Captain Fantastic' stepped up in the dying embers. Just as the announcer let the crowd know there would be four additional minutes, the ball came back out to who else but Mr. Liverpool himself, who belted the ball past Shaka Hislop from a spectacular 35-yards to send the Merseyside fans into raptures as he rocketed home a last-gasp equaliser to see his side through to extra-time. This was after he scored one screamer to pull back the Reds' second of the match, and before he scored a penalty en route to his boyhood club lifting the trophy.
