Christian Benteke's agent has insisted that the Belgium international will not be leaving Aston Villa this summer.
The striker has been a revelation for Aston Villa this season since signing for for a fee believed to be in the £7m region. Ever since his move from Genk, Benteke has had a decent first season in the Premier League, scoring 14 goals this season for his club. He is joint-sixth in the top scorer charts, netting only one goal less than Chelsea's Demba Ba.
Given his form and impact he has made in his debut season, he will surely be subjected to transfer speculation at the end of the season. The Mirror has reported that his agent, Eris Kismet, is 99 per cent sure that the man will remain at Villa next season and will continue to ply his trade with the West Midlands outfit.
“I keep hearing that Christian dreams of playing for different clubs," Kismet said. “But why dream when he is living a fantastic reality at Aston Villa? He is certainly not thinking about leaving.
“It is always impossible to predict the future in football, but, at the moment I am 99 per cent certain Christian will start next season with Aston Villa in the Premier League.
“Paul Lambert, the club and the fans have all been very good to Christian and that means a lot to him.”
As a young player, he may not want to rush his career by moving to a bigger club so early but rather bide his time and build his reputation and develop himself as a player. No doubt teams around Europe would be interested in him but the prospect of playing first-team football should overshadow the prospect of warming the bench of a bigger team.
At this point in his career, Aston Villa seems like the perfect club for this young man. If he proves to be a success and not a one-hit wonder, perhaps he could think of making the move a couple of seasons down the road. As for now, the 22-year-old Belgian striker is said to be happy where he is.
