Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini admitted he has grown frustrated with Samir Nasri this season.

The City boss joked he could 'punch' the Frenchman after he watched his side thrash Newcastle United 4-0 at the Etihad on Saturday.

The Premier League title looks to be heading back to Old Trafford as City trail Manchester United by 15-points, however the Italian was able to crack a joke with the reporters after the game.

It has been made public this season that Mancini has not been happy with Frenchman Samir Nasri's attitude and performances this season, but the midfield-man was very impressive against Newcastle at the weekend and Mancini revealed that he would like to punch him as he doesn't do it week-in week-out.

Mancini joked with reporters saying: "I would like to give him a punch.

Because a player like him should play like today always. Always.

"Every game. Maybe one game sometimes he can play badly but with his quality that is all."

Nasri put in a great shift during City's 4-0 win and he was also very impressive when City ran riot at St James Park earlier on in the season and Mancini has revealed his anger at the fact that the player cannot do it all the time considering how good he can be.

Mancini continued by saying: "I don’t know what the difference was today.

"I can’t understand sometimes a player with his quality doesn’t play like today every game.

"I think that the second year is always difficult to win again. And sometimes a player can think it is enough to play 50 per cent.

"Probably we had this problem this year.

"I don’t know if Samir agrees but I think that every player is intelligent and is clever to understand his performance.

"I think that today he knows that he played very well."
