Arsenal may reportedly sanction a summer transfer window move for Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, just 12 months after the Cameroon international left the Emirates Stadium for the Camp Nou.

Song joined Barcelona from Arsenal last August in a deal worth £15 million, but the 25-year-old has been unable to claim a regular place in Catalonia, making only 25 appearances in all competitions for the Primera Division leaders this season.

According to the Daily Express, Arsenal are considering taking advantage of Song's situation at Barcelona by making a move to bring him back to north London with Arsene Wenger ready to invest significantly during the transfer period.

Arsenal could reportedly secure the signature of Song for around £12.7 million, although the Gunners may face competition from Paris Saint-Germain in their apparent pursuit of their academy graduate.

PSG can count on sizeable financial clout if a bidding war ensues between themselves and Arsenal, although it is reported that Wenger will have around £70 million to play with as he looks to rebuild his squad for next season.

It is claimed Song would be willing to listen to offers of opportunities to leave Barcelona, while he may be provided a chance to impress his would be suitors when the Catalan club face PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday.

PSG host Barca in the first leg of the last eight tie, and will have Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in their side after the two-match suspension he received was reduced to just one.
